Friður ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered travel companion built exclusively for Iceland. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

What We Collect

We collect only what's needed to give you a great experience in Iceland:

Location data — Used for live weather, road conditions, nearby places, and aurora visibility at your position. Location is only accessed when you grant permission and is not stored beyond what's needed for real-time features.
Trip data — Your itineraries, dates, preferences, and trip settings so we can build and optimize your plans.
Saved places & boards — Places you save, mood boards you create, and any notes you add.
Conversations with Fríða — Chat and voice interactions with our AI companion, used to provide contextual responses and improve her helpfulness over time.
Account information — Email address and display name for authentication and co-trip features.

Third-Party Services

We use the following trusted services to power Friður:

Anthropic (Claude) — Powers Fríða's AI conversations and trip planning intelligence.
ElevenLabs — Provides Fríða's voice synthesis for spoken responses.
Google — Maps, directions, and translation services.
Supabase — Secure database and authentication infrastructure.

Each service processes only the data necessary for its function. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

We Don't Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. Period. Your data is used solely to provide and improve Friður's features for you.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers with encryption at rest and in transit. We follow industry-standard security practices including row-level security policies, secure API keys, and regular access reviews.

Analytics

We collect basic anonymous usage analytics to understand how people use Friður — things like which features are popular and where users encounter issues. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Request a copy of all data we hold about you
Request deletion of your account and all associated data
Withdraw location permissions at any time through your device settings
Opt out of analytics

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Friður evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the app. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
